Eyelid Aesthetic

Eyelid aesthetics, also known as blepharoplasty,is a surgical procedure performed on the upper and lower eyelids. This procedure involves the removal of sagging skin and muscle tissue and the tightening of the tissues around the eyes through surgical interventions.

With the aging process, the skin may experience certain sagging. This can lead to symptoms such as bagginess, discoloration, loosening, sagging, and wrinkles around the eyelids. Factors such as air pollution, exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays, excessive smoking and alcohol consumption, and irregular sleep patterns can accelerate the aging process of the skin.

While your skin is normally elastic, this elasticity diminishes over time. As a result, an excess accumulation of skin is often first noticed around the eyelids. The initial signs of aging around the eyelids lead individuals to appear tired, dull, and older.

The signs of aging that can be seen on the upper and lower eyelids include:

  • Drooping of the upper eyelid
  • Discoloration and puffiness under the eyes
  • Crow's feet lines around the corners of the eyes
  • Sagging and wrinkles on the eyelid skin
  • A tired facial expression.

Upper eyelid aesthetics, is the procedure of removing excess skin and muscle tissue in the area by cutting. To avoid scarring after the surgery, the incisions are usually made along the eyelid's natural fold. For better cosmetic results, it can be combined with forehead lift or eyebrow lift operations.

Lower eyelid aesthetics, involves the downward displacement of fat pads located above the cheekbones due to the aging process. This can lead to hollowing of the lower eyelid and deepening of laugh lines at the mouth corners.

In this case, an endoscopic procedure can be applied to reposition the fat pads. This is done before any intervention on the lower eyelid. If symptoms such as bagginess and sagging persist, lower eyelid surgery is performed. The skin is lifted, and the underlying fat is redistributed to the under-eye area. Excess skin and muscle tissue are removed.
